Pysanky: Ukrainian Decorated Egg Workshop In-Person

Join the Derby Public Library on Monday, March 31st at 4pm to learn about the History of Pysanky (Ukrainian Egg Decorating) with co-presenters Stefania and Jessica Kowal as they discuss the history, symbols and techniques behind traditional Ukrainian egg decorating.  

Participants will be shown how to decorate eggs with traditional folk designs using the wax-resistant Batik method.

All materials will be provided. The event will be free and open to the public.

More information about the presenters:

Stefania Kowal of Bethany, CT has over three decades of pysanky decorating and has held workshops at several Connecticut libraries over the years.
Jessica Kowal of Queens, NY has over 10 years of pysanky decorating as has held workshops in CT and VT.
Marianne Pysarchyk Smertiuk of Shelton, CT will assist.  She has over 15 years of pysanky decorating and has co-lead workshops in CT and VT since 2015.
